👋 Welcome to the performer screen

A screen for "ensemble play" — sharing parts across multiple devices (smartphone / PC / tablet, etc.) and triggering them at millisecond precision. There are two play modes: "No conductor" and "With conductor".

What this screen does

Supports two play modes:
- No conductor … each performer calibrates themselves, picks the same sample track, syncs by timer and everyone starts together
- With conductor … just scan the conductor's QR to join. The conductor sets track / CH (parts) / timer for everyone, including their own uploaded songs
Use calibration to correct per-device audio output latency in milliseconds
Can also play through external speakers via Tesla's Boombox

Quick start ①: Play without a conductor

Each performer drives everything on their own device. A handy method that lets a group play together without anyone playing the conductor role.

① Each performer opens this screen on their own device (direct access, no QR needed)
② Everyone starts "Calibration" together and tunes the output timing by ear
③ Everyone picks the same sample track (starting with ♪ ◯) in "Music"
* In no-conductor mode only sample tracks are available (user tracks are distributed only via a conductor)
④ Each performer picks their CH (part) in "CH" (coordinate beforehand to avoid overlap)
⑤ Set the same start time for everyone in "Play" and each presses "▶ Schedule play"
⑥ At the set time, every device starts playing automatically

Quick start ②: Play with a conductor

One person (conductor role — modoki member login required) assigns track / CH / timer to everyone in one place. Performers join just by scanning a QR, and original tracks uploaded by the conductor can be played too.

① Scan the "Performer screen invite QR" on the conductor's screen with your phone → this screen opens and you are automatically registered with that conductor
② You're connected when "Conductor: joined ◯◯" appears at the top of the screen
③ Correct the device output delay in "Calibration" if needed
(if the conductor sends "▶ Start calibration for everyone", it starts automatically)
④ Wait for the conductor to pick a song in "Music" and assign CH (part) to each device → the conductor's user songs (♪U) are added to this screen automatically too
⑤ The conductor sets the start time in "Play" → on "▶ Play for everyone" all devices start automatically
(on first run, tap the screen once to enable audio due to browser autoplay restrictions)
⑥ To act as the conductor yourself, open "Open Conductor" from the menu at the top right. A modoki account login is required (once registered you can also upload your own songs and distribute them to everyone).

Preparation
・Tesla software must support Boombox (Holiday Update or later)
・Put the Tesla in P (Park) — only works while stopped
・Pedestrian Warning Sound (PWS) must be enabled for your country/vehicle
・⚠ If you use an iPhone as the Boombox performer, the conductor should use a separate device (running "auto calibration" on the same iPhone makes iOS lock the Bluetooth profile to HFP call mode; it may not return to A2DP even after Bluetooth OFF/ON or Safari restart, and Tesla's "Play current media" may stop responding. Using a different device — Android or another iPhone — as the conductor avoids this)

Steps
① Connect the phone to the Tesla via Bluetooth and set the media output to the Tesla
② On the Tesla touchscreen, open Toybox → Boombox
③ In Boombox, enable external speaker output from the "Play external when honking" or "Custom sound" section (follow the in-car UI)
④ Turn ON "Use external speakers" on the Boombox screen
⑤ On this performer screen (phone), wait for the timer or the conductor's play command
⑥ Phone audio flows to the Tesla via Bluetooth and plays through the external speaker

Notes
・Do not close the phone screen during play (no sleep / no lock). When the screen turns off, the browser pauses playback and timing drifts. Set auto-lock to a long interval (or off) and keep it on charge if needed
・External speaker output is disabled automatically while driving (out of P)
・Adjust volume from the Tesla's media volume
・UI names may differ depending on model / year / software update

What is calibration?

Corrects per-device audio output latency in milliseconds.
① Press "Start calibration" on multiple devices at the same time
② Pick 1 sec / 2 sec in "Interval" (when offset is large, 2 sec makes it easier to tell which is ahead)
③ A "click" sounds exactly at 0ms of each interval — listen for the offset
④ Adjust the lagging device's value in the "+" direction to match
(Tesla is typically +50 to 150ms. Settings are saved on this device automatically and applied to playback)
